Allenbrook and Centronia Apartments
Pennsylvania
Two and three story apartment buildings constructed as three building types- conventional, accessible and uphill
- Trenched concrete wall footings used to limit footing formwork costs, simplifying construction
- Wood Pre-engineered gable roof trusses utilized to create roof shape, incorporate high ceilings over egress stairs
- Accessible buildings are similar to conventional buildings, but incorporate features required by accessible standards and building codes
- Uphill buildings are two/ three story buildings designed for placement on sloped areas of the project sites. In plan, they resemble the conventional buildings, but the first floor level is modified to incorporate a one story high concrete wall to accomplish the grade change from one side of the building to the opposite side
- Reinforced concrete wall designed in conjunction with owner and contractor as a standard basement wall with temporary braces required during construction, rather than a conventional retaining wall with a large footing
